Happy Birthday Philip Treacy!Still glowing from the excitement of seeing the exhibition "When Philip met Isabella" at RMIT Gallery Melbourne, we thought it would be fitting to have Philip Treacy as our "Milliner of the Month". Read Philip's Biography. Irish milliner born May 26, 1967, the second youngest of eight children growing up in Galway . He had never seen a city until he was 17 . Treacy studied at the National College of Art and Design in Dublin before moving to the Royal College of Art in London. In his early years he buy bits and pieces picked up in local flea markets and use materials from them to create wonderful new creations. He graduated in 1991 where his show created a fashion sensation and has ever since Philip Treacy has won the title of Accessory Designer of the Year at the British Fashion Awards in 1991, 1992 and 1993, and then again in 1996 and 1997. In 2000 he became the first millinery designer to participate in the Paris haute couture show by the Chambre Syndicale, the governing body of French fashion. Designs for : Chanel, Valentino, Versace and Rifat Ozbek,the Royal Ballet, films and theatre productions.
