Tea for a cause

More than 80 Brookline and Chestnut Hill women and their friends donned their finest millinery and gathered at the home of Merrill Gottesman of Brookline recently for an afternoon garden party tea to benefit the Big Sister Association of Greater Boston. Sue Hazard of Boston took honors for best hat. The women raised $17,000 for Big Sister, a community-based mentoring program that facilitates one-to-one matches between girls (Little Sisters) and women (Big Sisters), creating special friendships that provide girls with guidance, support and encouragement.

June 04-06, 2004 The Anne van Hauwaert boutique will hold a special trunk show during the Little Italy Art Walk, featuring the boutique owner's clothing designs, as well as exotic earrings by artist Gabriella Iannarelli of Cleveland and millinery by Lisa Battaglia of New York. Battaglia specializes in retro styles from the 1920s to the 1940s. Hours are 5 to 10 p.m. Friday, noon to 10 p.m. Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday. The Anne van Hauwaert boutique is at 2026 Murray Hill, Cleveland. Call 216-721-6633 for information.
