Every March, all eyes turn to Melbourne for Australia's favourite fashion event. The L’Oréal Melbourne Fashion Festival. The festival brings Australia’s most exciting and dynamic fashion designers to Melbourne for one spectacular week of fashion. The event is presented in association with the Victorian State Government and the City of Melbourne.

L'OREAL MELBOURNE FASHION FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTS

Master milliner, Philip Treacy exhibition "When Philip Met Isabella" is a display of extraordinary hats that he has made for his friend and muse, iconic stylist Isabella Blow. Philip Treacy celebrate 20 years of collaboration with over 25 hats. March 14 to April 26 at RMIT.

Millinery Exhibition - 2003

The Week of Hats 2003

Following the success of last year’s event The British Hat Guild & Macmillan
Cancer Relief are staging the “Week of Hats 2003”. Last year a total of
£19,000 was raised for Macmillan to enable them to help people living with
cancer. And at the same time raise the profile of that most British
accessory the Hat. There will be many events nationwide during the week,
which starts on Saturday 17 May.


As part of the “Week of Hats”, The Hat Magazine is organising a 4 day Hat
Show from Thursday 22 May to Sunday 25 May at The Atlantis Gallery, Brick
Lane, London E1.


The show will be open to all. With over 35 stands displaying the work of
individual designers, large manufacturers, millinery colleges, theatrical
designers and raw material suppliers. Taking place one week before The Derby
and 3 weeks before Ascot, visitors will be able to buy hats and learn about
their construction as well as see special events. The entrance fee of £2.50
will include entry in a daily draw for glorious prizes.

DAILY PROGRAMME

Thursday 22 May
Show open: 11am – 7pm
1.15pm Official opening by Cozmo Jenks, hat designer to the stars; who makes
for Kylie Minogue and Jay Kay to name just a few, together with a display of
her work.

Friday 23 May
Show open: 11am – 7pm
1.15pm Catwalk Show of the latest shapes and designs by the talented
students of
Kensington & Chelsea College.
1.45pm Peter Whiteley of The Whiteley Hat Company will present the prizes
to the winners of his company’s industrial design competition, which was set
for the students of Kensington & Chelsea College.
Saturday 24 May
Show open: 11am – 7pm
2-4pm Demonstrations of the very best millinery techniques by a
professional! We will cover as many of your problems on making as we can in
2 hours.

Sunday 25 May
Show open: 11am – 6pm
4pm: Grand Finale catwalk show, featuring men’s hats from the very
smartest to the latest
streetwear on our very exclusive Hat Mag models!!
5pm: Draw for today’s prize of 2 pairs of tickets and 2 bottles of
champagne to Coral Eclipse
Day at Sandown Racecourse on Saturday 5 July. Kindly donated by Sandown
Racecourse.
