English milliner Philip Wright and Princess Anne

The art of millinery as a second language

English Philip Wright was introduced to the world of hats at the family factory, Walter Wright Ltd., at the age of 7. "I have worked with and around hats all my life, so what they can say is like a tangible second language which I grew up with," he says. "I always try to make a hat that makes the client look sexy by enhancing the face, the eyes in particular, and then to bring something extra to their posture or stance." Read the full interview.

"When I tell people I am a milliner, they have to look up the dictionary."
